NIER AUTOMATA (2B Walkthrough)
Ridiculous
Boss Battles.
Brilliant
Graphics, decent gameplay, and genres flashed before your eyes
spanning the entire video game history. Shooter. Bullet-hell shooter.
Side-scrolling Platformer. 3-D Platformer. Adventure Game. Fullblown
Single-Player JRPG. Hardcore, from start to finish.
Damned
bosses that piss you off, and make you want to throw your controller
across the room. Then your monitor. Why? Because you try and try and
TRY. And you fail and fail and FAIL. BUT… this is a mark of a GREAT
game.
I
wanted to see what happened NEXT. No matter how much of a PRICK (and
they WERE PRICKS) the bosses were, I NEEDED to see the next thing.
The story was too important. The emotional attachment that forms
between the player and this game; between the player and these
characters- is SERIOUSLY intense. DESPITE the fact that they are
androids.
I
am OLD. My skills aren’t what they used to be. (They are still
quite good, kiddies.) But my determination still IS good. And, damn
it, when it’s a good game like this one, and the story HAS ME, I
WILL try. Again and again. And it will pay off SOMETIME.
The
large, open world is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and STUNNING. The gameplay
is great, controllers are tuned up and what’s important here is
health and enhancements. This becomes obvious as you play on. You can
enhance your defense and offense, both ranged and local, by buying
power-ups at key spots. The Bunker is a great place to buy the stuff
you need. Save OFTEN. Keep your health upgrades ALL above 99 as much
as you can. Keep your attack upgrades as HIGH as you can, as LONG as
you can.
Other
than that, all I can tell you is you WILL be pulled into this game.
You WILL want to see it through. There will be no spoilers here. Be
ready to POUR some SERIOUS time into this one. Summon your skills and
keep trying.
The
music is also wonderful. The experience will hold your attention (as
well as piss you the hell off) and I recommend it.
On
the DOWNSIDE, you do NOT have to finish EVERYTHING to finish the
game. Some may see this as an UPSIDE.
I
give Nier Automata an 8/10. Give this one a spin, for your sake if
you love quirky JRPGs.
